Eartha Dobbins Obituary

On Tuesday, November 6, 2018 Sister Eartha L. Humble- Dobbins 77, of North Little Rock was elected to transition to her heavenly home. Mrs. Dobbins spent her life campaigning for the causes of Christ to save a dying world. She knew that victory belongs to Jesus and she stood on His platform to love deeply and lead people to Christ.

Sis Dobbins was born December 9, 1940 to Andrew and Elizabeth Humble in rural North Little Rock, Arkansas; a community many know as Dick Jeter. At a very young age she accepted Christ and united with Mt. Aarat Missionary Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas where she served faithfully until her health failed.

On May 31, 1959 Frank Roosevelt Dobbins and Eartha L. Humble were united in Holy Matrimony. To this union 3 children were born: Faith Racine Dobbins (Charles) Jones, Roosevelt Dwayne (Sharon, deceased) Dobbins, Angela Renee Dobbins, and bonus daughters Rita Dobbins Justice (deceased) and Marilyn Dobbins (Grady) Perkins. Sis Dobbins cherished the fact that she was not only a mother but an active grandmother and great- grandmother. She proudly also wore the hat of “MeMe” to many others in the community. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Smith; father, Andrew Humble; son, Anthony Marquis Dobbins; brother, Rev. Assa Phillips and husband, Rev. Frank R. Dobbins.

Eartha graduated from the former Pulaski County Training High School( Now Harris Elementary) in the McAlmont community -North Little Rock. After graduation she earned several scholarships. She attended Shorter College in North Little Rock and later attended Nursing School. Eartha worked at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for 40 years as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse. On May 11, 2002, Eartha received her Masters degree in Religious Education from Jackson Theological Seminary.

Mrs. Dobbins was very active in her community and City. She served as the President of NAACP North Little Rock Chapter from 2006-2014. Her ongoing fight to have a functional grocery store in the 72114 community. One of her most endearing passions was to make sure persons of voting age were registered to vote.
