Rhonie Williams

Mr. Rhonie Lamorn Williams was born September 9, 1947 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Susan Williams and late Oliver Davis. He departed this life on Tuesday, January 22, 2025 at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. He was an only child. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Derrick Grays, six aunts and uncles, Jeannie Jack, Barbara Williams, Luther Williams, Duard Williams, Orsie Williams Jr. and Marjorie Sue Fitzhugh, who became his surrogate mother after his mother’s passing. Mr. Rhonie attended Coleman High School, graduating in 1965. He immediately pursued a career with the United States Air Force which afforded him an opportunity to travel domestically and internationally. During his military career he served in the Vietnam War and was stationed in Thailand, Okinawa, Santa Maria, California and the Little Rock Air Force Base. Following his honorable discharge, he worked at Philander Smith College until his full retirement in 2013. He was a dedicated worker and was very popular with the students, staff and administrators. He was a quiet and wise man, who loved and appreciated his family, friends, the horse races and jazz in the park. Mr. Rhonie leaves behind one daughter, Tia Williams, four grandchildren, Tamia Richardson, Zekia Williams, Xavier Williams, Isaiah Williams, two great-grandchildren Nylah and Braylen Broom, a host of family and friends, including special friends Veda Maxwell and Charlie Davis.
